I love when centrists try to do the “ackshually, it’s the left that throws everyone else under the bus” thing.
So we don’t matter and have no relevance, but we have the power to destroy anyone we want?
Sure seems like the enemy is simultaneously both pathetically weak and overwhelmingly strong.
Some dude just got very, very mad at me for comparing centrists to fascists, completely ignoring the past 8 years of “centrists” openly claiming that “Berniebros” are Nazis who gave us Donald Trump.
Centrists are the sorts that look at fascism and someone wanting housing for all, and go 'these are equally bad', yet somehow end up siding with the fascists against people suffering less every time.
So, quiet fascists.
Once knew someone irl who claimed to be a centrist, but would only EVER criticise the actions of the left. If the right was brought up, it was always "yeah that's bad but the left teaching children to hate white people!"
Exhausting. Cut contract with him promptly.
It's the South Park Republican phenomenon: Anyone complaining about current circumstances is a fucking buzzkill and worthy of mockery.
The Left complains the most because the world's fucked up. And only dick heads who enjoy the status quo don't want to rock the boat.
8 years ago during Trump, we were talking about how Trumpism was adopting the many fascist characteristics as outlined by Umberto Eco in his essay "Ur-Fascism", but the real story is the way centrist Dems have slowly normalized and adopted some of that same behaviour.
Every time I run into this I'm just like "if we really are that much in the minority then you don't need us, and if you DO need us then it seems like we must not be that much in the minority"
We're just asking you to go build your own movement instead of using the heckler's veto to extort control of what we built. If you're as powerful as you think, it shouldn't be a problem.
That's the funny thing. I've been voting a straight dem ticket for over 20 years. I'm literally the part of the democrats' constituency and core voters.
Actually you guys tried to ratfuck at least one of those because you didn't get your way. We remember what you guys did after Hillary Clinton lost the primary to Obama.
So you're saying you... don't want us to vote for Biden in 2024? Because I've been treating it like we're all in this together and voting blue no matter who but if you're gonna be a diaper mouth we can all just stay home.
We just spent the past 6 months with leftists loudly voting "uncommitted" and insisting they'll never vote for Biden.
What do I want? Do whatever you're gonna do. Own it. Spare us the brow-smiting theatrics about how someone else is making you do the bad thing.
Voting uncommitted in a primary is not the same thing as not voting or voting for the republican in the general, which a large proportion of Hillary supporters did in 2016.
You're projecting really hard here. You're the one doing brow-beating theatrics to attack anyone to your left.
Okay but y'all have spent the past four plus years acting like any expectation from leftists that the Democrats act like an opposition party is the most onerous thing we could possibly ask, so instead of smiting your brow maybe punch yourself in the dick.
ah yes, it's definitely the leftists that did that. or, that was a severely manipulated election which resulted both in sanctions against russia *and* an investigation into the guy who won.
The great ratfuck of 2016? That's where Sanders got pushed aside despite his far greater popularity than the eventually nominated candidate who went on to lose the election, right?
Yeah we didn't do that.
Did leftists make her not campaign in every swing state? Did leftists come up with the pied piper strategy? Did leftists ruin her public image for thirty years beforehand?
Is James Comey, despite the known politics of his field office, a leftist?
Hey when someone has enough power to ratfuck you and it's really important for you not to be ratfucked, I think you should probably listen to what they have to say even though you don't like it.
Also we did the epa, osha, the 40-hour work week, child labor laws, civil rights, etc
if leftists are supposed to vote for democrats, then they're a democratic party constituency and get to demand representation from who they vote for, and they get to determine who and what is part of the party same as everyone else
I'm at least refreshed by the honesty this one has about not even pretending to want the same social progress and policies that benefit the working class that lefties want. Instead it's transparently about team sports.
You can't ask us to go build our own movement at the same time you say that we must vote for your candidate.
If there are so few of us, you SURELY dont need our votes.
You don't like the movement being built because it stands against your democrats beloved need to genocide brown people for comfort. Deal with that fact, do some introspection and see why you oppose that movement being built. And shut the fuck up. Because you're doing far worse things for Biden rn.
You have relevance. The left has always been the idea generators. You’re the future (hopefully the nearer future if we can unite to beat T).
The left & center are having lots of tension & it’s painful - emotional like a bad family squabble. People say stupid things.
Except in my experience the far left is very good at identifying problems and very bad at addressing them. "I just can't bring myself to vote for Hillary Clinton" set back progressive goals for 25 years, given how long right-wing firebreathers are going to dominate the federal courts.
This describes almost nobody. The vast majority of Bernie Sanders primary voters voted for Hillary in the general.
More, in fact, than Hillary Clinton voters went to Obama in the general in 2016.
You can’t blame progressives for your own failures.
Progressives are not “the far left” either.
