It's not every day I see a picture of a car I have literally never seen before. My brain is having a hard time processing the dimensions. It exists partially in Hyperspace.
I remember them just absolutely going on about how ludicrously overpowered it was for a small RWD coupe. This is also ages ago and I am old, so my brain might just be lying to me.
This is hilarious because my S52 is rated at 240 HP and would probably get smoked by a new Camry from a stop (and would definitely get smoked by basically every modern EV).
No, you’re right. It was weird that they were fixated on the M coupe specifically, which was powerful but not insanely so especially in S52 guise; their show was entertaining but that part of their schtick (we work on cars but we hate cars har har har) always really bugged me
The quintessential Car Talk car is a lightly used Fiat 124 Spider that gets maybe 100 HP if the carbs were recently jetted, & all other cars are judged accordingly
Speaking as a 6'1" guy that got to drive an M roadster once upon a time, they do not.
To get in the car, open the driver's door, muster your faith in gravity, back in/sit down, DO NOT HIT HEAD if roof is up, attempt to manually haul legs under the steering wheel one at a time.
one of the first things one of my friends said after I bought it more than 10 years ago was "it's Ace and Gary's car, from the old SNL Ambiguously Gay Duo cartoon" and I've been living with it ever since... guess it's a clown penis now
I think what made me grudgingly admire that car was that there was no way someone drew a car that looked like that and asked the engineers to make it work. You only arrive on that shape because every other shape must have been a worse comprise of some important function
geez, it's not even *that* hard to do by hand. +2500 wetdry and some soapy water, then Novus "heavy scratch" polish, then "light scratch" polish... #carglaucoma
