The problem with "AI" (one of them anyway) really is just that the justification for it seems to be "we threw all this money down the AI hole, we have to use it for SOMETHING," whether or not using it makes everything worse or not. It's the Sunk Cost Fallacy as a Large Language Model.

Hot Tip: At a book signing, tell the author your name. Do this even if they're your best friend from childhood, your ex, your brother, landlord, or client. Because authors get overwhelmed by all the unaccustomed attention and sensory input and forget their *own* names, much less yours.

It's because we all have day jobs, advances are pennies, publishers don't market, one underperforming book tanks your career, and we're expected to be well-tuned brand machines on social media websites designed to suck our souls dry.
