The existence of this article is just as interesting as its contents. I can only imagine the amount of shit talking that must be happening among that circuit's judicial rumor mill.

I’d love to entertain some fantasy of a world in which she gets busted one day for corruption and ends up in jail herself. However I’m too used to the real world where there are never any consequences for such things

Her punishment will be serving as DJT’s next SCOTUS nominee

Life tenure. That doesn't seem to mean much for 'liberal' professors that upset the right. If Trump wins and a SCOTUS spot opens up, she's a likely choice.
She has life tenure, but that doesn't mean she makes the assignment rules for the District. That belongs to the Chief judge, who was already alarmed. Extraordinary case, with extraordinary 11th cir decision. Seems like the CJ fell down here and is now leaking to the NYT to rehabilitate her rep

She is where she is and she knows that any attempt to remove her, no matter how apparently valid, would cause a national backlash. At the same time attempts are being made to remove Merchan and question his trial oversight. There's an obvious gross imbalance in America's legal system.
That doesn't make any sense. The Trump trial overseen by Merchan is finished. There is nothing to remove him from.

Your supreme court is corrupt. What checks and balances are in place (if at all) to rectify such a situation?
Avatar
True, but this has nothing to do with the SC.
Avatar
What checks and balances are there?
Avatar
Not a lot! Your point there stands.
Avatar
Same as all federal judges: impeachment in the house, removal by conviction in the Senate with 2/3rds vote. AKA, not gonna happen.

We really should have made it easier to fire people.
Avatar
There are none , he appointed her just for the purpose that if a case went in front of her, she would go in favor of him due to him putting her there
Avatar
A safe majority in congress would allow them to expand the court such that the corrupt justices end up in minority
Avatar
It still has nothing to do with Aileen Cannon. She's a federal district judge, not on the Supreme Court.
Avatar
Similar answer in that case too, impeachment requires a large majority
Avatar
Yup. Expanding the SC or the number of justices on the SC has nothing to do with Cannon. It doesn't stop her from being a shitheel justice, but at least it's limited to her district and maybe any appellate courts that wind up having to sort through her dumpster fire decisions that get appealed.

I have a chance to betray my country for my top secret document stealing cult leader/new orange Daddy, son -- there is no way I giving up this case!!!

Every time her picture’s in the news i hear a chorus of millennials like “weird, that goth girl we went to high school with became a judge in Florida?”
Avatar
Cutting out Reinhart over and over is a pretty big tell.

"I'm not passing up my ticket to the Supreme Court "
Avatar
Why would she step aside from her explicit purpose?
Avatar
Of course she did. She is a corrupt judge intent on using her corruption to protect her false prophet at all costs.
Avatar
Avatar
She's betting that Trump wins and she gets appointed to SCOTUS.

Was expecting to see Dunning-Kruger on the byline
