The Secret Service missing this post assassination attempt press conference, and the FBI going ahead with it without them, is one of the most striking instances of federal law endorcement dysfunction since that time no law enforcement agency held a press conference after Jan 6 for like two weeks.

It's like when the FBI and CIA were feuding so hard they forgot to tell each other about a possible attack on the US in 2001.

I felt that one... like blowback shrapnel.

You both make good points, and also imagining this exchange as a conversation between two adorable doggos is one of the first laughs I’ve had since this whole thing.

FBI: "Hey, wanna answer questions in front of cameras right now" USSS: "um.... n-no? can I say no? kinda still trying to think up some good answers"

"We have some phone upgrades right now, we'll get back to you"

Well Trump generates a sort of law displacement field, law professionals have to modulate their frequencies first

LAW DISPLACEMENT FIELD.😲 *chef's kiss* You have a way with words.
Avatar
Well for two weeks after 1/6, they'd be criticizing their boss.

gotta get the stories straight / delete texts / figure out a reason why they didn't clear that roof bsky.app/profile/wash...
A video filmed by a bystander and verified by The Post shows the body of a man lying on the roof of a building a little more than 400 feet from where Trump was speaking. The person who shot at the former president fired from that roof, according to a person familiar with preliminary information.

or why they didn't get trump off stage when the shooter was brought to their attention x.com/SharpFootbal...

Federal law enforcement agencies not coordinating? What is this, 2000?

hastily organized and run press conferences give assfaces like alex jones gaps, and they seem small at the time but fuckers like him just drive trucks through them. not repeating the question is such a sure fire way to let them paint words around the answer as they want for example. this was bad.

Maybe the Secret Service is simply not all that good at their jobs? If your job is to secure an event and you don't, isn't that kind of like a failure? After all, what it comes down to is that they are essentially cops, and the shine of assumed competency after this and J6 means questions, right?
Avatar
I wouldn't be shocked if they just hadn't budgeted the full presidential protection detail to him as a former president and current candidate.
Avatar
There were four counter sniper teams on site and MORE security than is normal (not less). This wasn’t lack of resources. According to one report I read, several attendees saw the kid climbing up the bldg with the rifle and informed security several minutes before the shots were fired.
Avatar
But there was a shocking lack of foresight not to include that building in the perimeter or at least have eyes on it.

If the reports I've seen are true, the Secret Service did an inexplicably bad job. Supposedly the shooter was seen crawling around with a rifle for some time on an unsecured rooftop overlooking the stage, only 400' away. For comparison, the world-record javelin throw is only 20% shorter than that.
Avatar
Man, I would have loved to have seen a javelin.... Nevermind.
Avatar
I'm not suggesting a world-record javelin thrower is a threat to be planned against, but this guy was overlooking the stage and was literally within throwing distance of it. Maybe a javelin was the wrong choice: a baseball has been thrown half again farther than this shooter was from the target.
Avatar
No, I got you. I immediately thought of Highland Park, IL where the shooter had easy access to rooftops over the parade.
Avatar
The again how much accountability do they suffer? When no one can call you out on your fuck ups you don't really care when you do.

Gregg Allman was correct. The loudest words actually are the ones never said.
Avatar
Well he also married Cher, so I'm not sure about his wisdom levels
Avatar
Funny enough, I had the chance to chat with a federal sniper who used my floor as a nest during a VP Biden speech in the city. Covering all the sight lines is bloody impossible in a city like that, but you try anyway. There’s no excuse in this case.
Avatar
Likely the entire SS was busy chewing some guy out for most of the night.
Avatar
Secret Service was busy googling ‘how to delete your phone’?
Avatar
Avatar
The FBI was quick to call Trump OUR president, so there's that.
Avatar
Secret Service hasn’t been shit since they took it out of treasury and threw it into the bureaucratic mess of managers fighting for funds at Homeland. It was an extended frat party during Obama
Avatar
If I was a USSS official I’d be so busy right now, way too busy to be eviscerated at a press conference.
Avatar
This is going to be a bullet point on the conspiracy theory Power Point presentation.

MDT, this Guest Avail spam was really quick to blame "the left" for inspiring someone to shoot at a fascist dictator wannabe.

I endorce your hasty hot take
Avatar
And the fact that they (SS) *completely FAILED to secure the perimeter.

Oooooh... I wouldn't slam a damn door that hard! 😜
