“The Republicans made a big bet that trying to raise the status of blacks would be popular, but at best they had mixed results.” -1873 Civil War bond holders about to abide the end of Reconstruction
I just have a hard time treating seriously an analysis that includes the phrase: "The Democrats made a big bet that trying to raise the status of blacks would be popular, but at best they had mixed results."

Could…could this be a deus ex machina event comparable to the one in The Plot Against America?

Donald Trump Is Unfit To Serve. Here’s Why That’s Bad News for Biden.
Donald Trump is unfit to lead so we're gonna cover the entire front page of our newspaper in articles criticizing his opponent every day.

Nadler needs to say which nationally-vetted candidate should replace Biden in a way that gets them on the ballot in all 50 states +DC & avoids post-election legal challenges (& if it’s Harris, how Dems keep the vice-presidency if she ascends to the presidency before the election).
Jerry Nadler what are you doing buddy

The pundits are crazy -Biden’s unpopularity is due not to age but to economic concerns, which would dog any D candidate -No prominent D is any more popular than Biden -If the concern actually is mental acuity, a Biden cabinet would be more likely invoke the 25th amendment than a Trump cabinet

If most voters didn’t want Biden to run in 2024 a candidate would have emerged to tap into this constituency. Dean Philips tried & Biden got 87% of the primary vote. Even more prominent Dems are no more popular - often less popular - than Biden.
I think what's being swatted down as "elite opinion" from NYT/Crooked types is actually the piercing of a bubble from below. Most voters haven't wanted Biden to run again for literally years.

If you’re truly worried about cognitive decline, the candidate you ask to drop out is the one who can’t complete a coherent sentence.

A reminder that Bethe Morisot is a delight; her painting “By the Lake” & her portrait by her brother-in-law, Éduoard Manet
Happy International Women's Day Did you know Berthe Morisot was the only woman invited by Monet, Renoir, and the gang to participate in the First Impressionist Exhibition? It only took 150 years, but she’s finally receiving the critical attention she deserves. tinyurl.com/38ejr27f #ArtHistory 🗃️
