Locking out a water customer (especially one that’s paying fractions of a cent per quantity compared to what regular users are using) is trivial.
Right?? I have no idea. It’s not like radiators are a new or expensive technology, and heat pumps are incredibly efficient at moving heat out. Hell, they could use the heat the chips create to generate at least part of their cooling.
So I assume it’s just typical tech do it cheap & never fix.
In all the movies where the villain is a rogue AI, I have never seen a hero just break it with a hammer.* I think that would be fun to watch.
*I guess Thor in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" came pretty close.
