Nice.
Nobody at the RNC came to hear Boris Johnson and Kellyanne Conway. How embarrassing. www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...

What happens to a largely US-controlled internet after fascism? I'm hoping we don't find out, but do these now, not later: - Make sure that you have ways to contact your core groups outside of social media. - Back up everything you don't want to lose online.

Historically we have been able, in the U.S., to count on one branch or the other to hold the line and do the right thing. Unless Democrats win one branch outright, either Legislative or Executive, it’s game over. The Judicial has been in the tank since 2000, but now no longer has to pretend.

Damn shame to make this go viral, right? Let's make this happen!!
Jay Dee deleted this from his ol’ website, apparently. It’d be a shame to re-up it to the interwebs, no?

Amazing story about what happens at the VA Hospital when you ask the Project 2025 question: "How are you going to pay the utility bills when Social Security and VA benefits get cut?" tweet: x.com/FlindyD/stat...

if you’re trying to engage with politically disconnected people about project 2025, identify a specific part that you think will resonate with them. i just told my friend who’s a public school teacher about the plan to abolish the department of education and that got her hooked.

/2 I’ve generally been an institutionalist. Lawyers kind of have to be or else being a lawyer is basically playing Dungeons & Dragons in uncomfortable clothing and without snacks. But there’s a line where courts no longer suffice as an institution to stop totalitarianism….

Institutions work until they don’t. It’s banal but true. Courts as institutions worked when Trump tried to steal the election, but FedSoc has been chipping away at them for decades, and I think it is very rational to doubt they will work any more to restrain an executive.
WSJ this morning. lol at the last bit. "Leaders on both sides need to stop describing the stakes of the election in apocalyptic terms. Democracy won't end if one or the other candidate is elected. Fascism is not aborning if Mr. Trump wins, unless you have little faith in American institutions."

Very interesting. In the days prior to this rally Trump had denied knowledge of Project 2025. Before that, he began backing off on abortion. We know why & weren’t fooled but, perhaps the shooter was. We don’t know enough yet.
We should all be listening to Dr. Snyder and Dr. Ben-Ghiat along with other historians such as @sethcotlar.bsky.social . MAGA is not new, just re-warmed same shit, same kind of people that should have been and should be widely shunned. Humans aren't very smart.

Trump's "economic plans" would send the entire world economy into a tailspin and straight up bankrupt America. Meanwhile, Biden has led us out of the economic shithole Trump created to make America the strongest economy in the world. www.usatoday.com/story/money/...
Comparing Trump's and Biden's economic plans, from immigration to taxeswww.usatoday.com A look at the economic plans of Trump and Biden. Trump would raise tariffs, restrict immigration and extend tax breaks for companies and the wealthy.

To add to Popehat’s point: The vast militarization required to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, & all the apparatus built to carry out that vast deportation, would not be disbanded after the deportation is done. It’d be repurposed to harass, persecute, & hunt down all domestic opposition
/2 It’s also the vast militarization it’s going to require. We’re going to be an occupied nation. Detention of citizens and lawful residents is inevitable and in fact clearly intended. Large-scale violence against immigrants, suspected immigrants, and bystanders is inevitable and clearly intended.

Just a reminder: it’s good to oppose assassinations. But you are under absolutely no obligation to treat Trumpists and Trump-apologists as people who are honest, or acting in good faith, when they purport to condemn political violence or violent rhetoric. They’re not sincere.

tfg is a fascist threat to Democracy.
Correction: Democrats are expressing sympathy and suspending campaign ads while Republicans are saying calling Trump a fascist is stoking violence . . . and also blaming Biden and calling for his arrest. Asymmetrical decency.

Popping on to say: A lot of rumors are about to fly about this rally. Trump's team is 100% going to try and take advantage of this situation. So will malicious foreign actors/bots/etc. Please don't auto share. Check your sources, and vet their wording/sourcing carefully.
