WSJ this morning. lol at the last bit. "Leaders on both sides need to stop describing the stakes of the election in apocalyptic terms. Democracy won't end if one or the other candidate is elected. Fascism is not aborning if Mr. Trump wins, unless you have little faith in American institutions."
Avatar
"unless you have little faith in American institutions" doing a lot of heavy lifting there
Avatar
i was a first time voter way back in 2000…faith in institutions was already on this ice for me
Avatar
I mean, the Supreme Court has already ruled the president is above the law, so those guardrails have already been removed.
Avatar
"By the way American institutions just said Trump committed crimes but can't be held accountable for them"
Avatar
"Little faith in American institutions" is the overriding subject of the candidate's party platform.
Joke's on them I have no faith in American institutions
Superman isn't strong enough to lift anything that heavy

Avatar
After watching said institutions in (in)action the last several years, why the hell should I have a whole lot of faith in them?
Avatar
TIL i have little faith in american institutions.
Avatar
The same ones that have consistently not upheld the rule of law? Yes we are the problem.
Avatar
I also have little faith in American institutions!
Avatar
That's some endorsement of Trump.
Avatar
He has vowed to destroy those institutions but sure
Avatar
Did they include a link to the "Cannon tosses case" article for reference?
I have no faith in any institution once Trump has control and little even if he doesn't.
Avatar
What. So "Trump is a fascist but the courts will stop him from being overly fascist"
Avatar
Lol… the opposite. We’ve just had a month of ‘Trump is immune from consequences ever’ decisions.
Avatar
Right, I don't believe that, but that's what they seem to be arguing.
Avatar
But you see if the courts say it’s legal it’s not fascism /s

The WSJ is written for and read by people for whom the institutions are designed. Thus far the institutions have performed remarkably well at making sure no wealthy person or political elite ever faces a single consequence for their destructive and/or murderous behavior.
Avatar
This is exactly why I have zero respect for the WSJ. Their bias is to support and promote sociopaths and their “ideologies”, because Wall Street is itself a cancer.
Avatar
He already had four years to weaken them you absolute BOZOS
Avatar
And he's just standing on the shoulders of the giant assholes who came before him (and in many cases are still around and breaking everything).
Avatar
Oh yeah, I haven't forgotten Newt Gingrich
Avatar
"What's the downside in humoring him?"
Avatar
"We should give him a chance."
the what's the downside in humoring quote is literally what all of the Republicans were saying on background to reporters during the Coup Attempt LOL
repeated in all of the major newspapers hahahah

I'm sure the "we" Ms. Parker is thinking of will be just fine.
Avatar
Avatar
I’m sure they were richly considered.
Avatar
Did Ms. Parker go on to define who the “we” is that will be fine? It looks only to be rich, white males who fall in line, from my perspective.
Avatar
Avatar
Well Trump spent his whole presidency demonstrating that “American institutions” are made of paper that crumpled the *instant* they’re challenged, so…
Avatar
The ones that kept firm only did so because of very hard work from unknown people who the executive office now has the explicit greenlight to silence in any way they feel like. Should be fine to give him another round
Avatar
More accurate would be "We're tired of all the doom and gloom, our publishing and editorial staff, most of our writers, and the majority of our readers will be fine and could see their taxes go down. So quit whining about potential outcomes for the lower classes."
Avatar
"Guys, all this bitching and moaning is bad for our businesses"
Avatar
Funny how as soon as you get to 'both sides' you can immediately disregard every word that follows.
Avatar
*Do* go gentle into that bad night. Bow down to the dying of the light
Avatar
Avatar
WSJ: BOTH SIDES NEED TO STOP DOING INSURRECTIONS WHEN THEY LOSE ELECTIONS.
Avatar
Can't have a little faith in the American institutions if there was none to begin with.
Avatar
I had some. Some. Had.
Avatar
Avatar
HE LITERALLY SENT A MOB TO MURDER HIS OWN VICE PRESIDENT AND ANY MEMBERS OF CONGRESS THEY COULD FIND I am going to have to breathe into a paper bag now.
Avatar
Plus, who says 'aborning'?
