Werner Herzog directing a Maybelline ad: Perhaps she is born with it. What a frightful notion, to be imbued with the fetters of capitalist commodification from birth. It suggests God Himself is a part of our dreadful pattern instead of a refuge from it.

Sorry to all my lawyer friends who spent a bunch of time learning how law works in the US. I had friends who were Flash developers and things turned out alright for them after they pivoted to C# or whatever. Hopefully there's an equivalent for our national legal system

I'm a little surprised they're not from the western side of Tarrant County...
Amazing these racist fucks have always had the nerve to act like they have the right to say THEY are the "True Texas." ("NE Tarrant Tea Party" is now "True Texas Project.")

This will be held up as "SCOTUS isn't political," which overlooks how the case was outrageous and absurd in the first place. Kacsmaryk and the 5th Circuit brazenly violated basic principles of standing taught to every 1L. It shouldn't have made it this far.
First SCOTUS decision of the day is the mifepristone case! SCOTUS unanimous (by J. Kavanaugh) holds that the doctor's group challenging the 2000, 2019, and 2021 FDA approvals lack standing. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...

Reskeet how old you are using a vague proxy: I played my first computer game in my high school. It was a game by a tabletop war game company loaded by cassette on a computer from a company that mostly sold diodes and such. The object of the game was to influence a nuclear Holocaust on your enemy.

Friends, I defy you to read the description of the Lil Abner movie and tell me you believe it was really made . en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li%27l_...
What movie did you watch as a kid that felt like just a fever dream until you realized as an adult it actually existed?

I'm not going to repost the story because I've seen it once and it made me sick to my stomach. Here's a study on false confessions. If it seems like police prey on the young and the ill? There's a reason for that. www.law.umich.edu/special/exon...

My wife and I both had "dilettante" on our dating profiles when we first met. No wonder we wound up together.
I think too many people who are brilliant in one arena, think that they are brilliant in every arena, and I think that causes a lot of problems societally This is why I am committed to being a true dilettante, being “middling” to “pretty good” in several things, and brilliant in absolutely nothing

Apropos of *nothing*: Mark Sexton, one of the concept artists on Fury Road, takes on the vehicles and characters from Wacky races. Very much in the vein of what I'm slowwwly aiming for in 28mm.

This is good information. We saw a red-eared slider trying to cross Hwy 130 (speed limit 85) last weekend. The good folks of Texas somehow avoided it and it was still undamaged when we walked back and helped it across the road. Always move 'em in the direction they're trying to go.

This seems relevant today: "Stand Your Ground" laws are designed to allow the right people to kill the wrong people without punishment. They are extremely fit for this purpose. You can probably guess who the wrong people are.

Any time you here someone talking about people "pulling themselves up by their bootstraps," you might want to remind them of who Horatio Alger was...
