two days ago marketing freaked out b/c google universal analytics data is going away on 7/1 and THEY MIGHT NEED IT SOMEDAY so this evening/weekend I'm hacking together a google sheets plugin -> stitch -> snowflake pipeline.. it's so yucky but it's a 1x data dump so ... whatever.

It's been an overwhelming couple of weeks. Trying to decide what is the best use of my long weekend: try to get a lot done, or just catch up on sleep.

Today I got up super early and drove 40mi to town for a tree sale. 1. I'm turning into a midwesterner and planting windbreaks. 2. I'm turning into my mom. This is something my mom would do. (I sent her a picture of the sale list and she was super excited.)

In Spokane WA this weekend for a wedding. Spring here is absolutely gorgeous, so many flowers everywhere! One of the prettiest towns I've visited; even famously grumpy husband likes it.

Trying to figure out how to deal with being told that "your promotion depends on doing visible things, not important things" This is surprisingly difficult to come to terms with emotionally.

Few things as satisfying as turning 300 lines of buggy nonsense into 60 lines of sensible, easy to read code. Glorious fun.

It's so satisfying to have an in-person ttrpg campaign going again. Except for a few one-shots I haven't done in-person since college, and the online version just doesn't quite compete.

Our aspirations are constrained by the tools we have to achieve them. The "magic" of AI is its promise to be the everything tool. - to write our code - to draw our art - to ocr our pdfs - to discover new drugs / planets / things

Apparently being sick = lots of ideas for new projects. Someone stop me before I start writing another novel that fizzles out in 30 pages or buy a project car to restore.

Being Actually Sick with the flu means I'm losing all my good habits and replacing them with lazy ones. I hate this but I don't have the energy to do anything about it.

All holiday today working on a hobby program. Utterly stumped by something that seemed simple but turned out quite tricky. Gave up, ate dinner, movie w/ husband, bed. Lying awake, I realized that that there's a non-elegant but straightforward way, got up & in 5min completely done. Happy + mad now.
