I wrote about TENDER IS THE FLESH, Agustina Bazterrica's jaw-dropping novel about dehumanization, cultural inertia, meat, and the institutionalization of cannibalism. www.patreon.com/posts/107475...

I squirmed the whole way through in the best possible way. And the gut punch this thing packs is powerful.

The ending, my god. Everything about this book is like a knife slowly penetrating the heart.

This book was incredible. Still lingering with me. Every scene brutal and banal all at once. One of the best I’ve read in a long time.

This is my favorite book of the last 5-10 years. Her short stories are also great.

I read it last year and I still think about it all the time.

Favorite book I’ve read so far this year.

Really enjoyed this book and your review. I remember a lot of evocative descriptions of language in the book, words slithering like tadpoles or sticking in the air, as people rationalize or euphemize the horror of their actions. Scathing satire

I also loved how the side characters became villainous in increasingly cartoonish levels until we basically get Dracula running a Most Dangerous Game ranch

Picked it up quite recently, but I've yet to start on it This is definitely making me want to read it even more tho!

I had someone stay over and finish the book during the night, and made my friends get together to read and discuss it. It's so gripping

This was so good. Absolutely dying waiting for the English translation of LAS INDIGNAS

I've had this on my TBR for years, maybe I should finally move it up

Omg I read this not too far apart from Sayaka Murata’s Earthling & not to spoil the second one but I stopped eating meat for a bit. Both of these books had me open-mouthed & finishing them the same day I started them. (Convenience Store Woman by Murata is also amazing.)
