Not you in particular, no. I'm talking Macross/Robotech fandom in general, at least as I've experienced it since the 80s. The ages were probably made to be as close to the target audience as possible. It's not like OG Star Blazers where IQ9 was constantly lifting Nova's skirt.

I could be projecting, or rewriting my own history. 😅 Looking back, though, a lot of the books and movies I identified with had themes, like Tetsuo the Iron Man, of body transformation or abandonment.

That's all fair. Anecdotally a certain amount of body horror/violence may be related to being unaware/closeted Bi/Trans. Without language to express identity in healthy ways, at least some of us, turned to horror to explore being in the wrong form. I avoid much of that same material now.

Ever have a song that makes you think of another song? Eureka's theme always triggers The Shroud's Where the Wind Goes, in my ear. It's not a complaint. The Shroud are one of the great Goth bands. I can listen to this eight nights a week.
