I think it’s gone, but when I lived in Sweden there was a place called American Take Away that had an earnest attempt at our pizza parlor/delivery culture. But their branding was something else
Okay, that rocks. I’ve been all over, and one of the key things I’ve learned is that I’m an US Breakfast Supremacist. There isn’t a morning culture on earth that can compete with our truck stop + Jewish + Mexican + Potato superbeast.
Corn Cheese should've been a wakeup call. Like, how did we let them scoop us on that? A big pile of corn in a deadly amount of melted cheese sounds like the most American possible food ever.
Dakgalbi with literal rivers of molten cheese through or around it is another area where I feel like the student has eclipsed the master.
shit, now I want dakgalbi
😂 I couldn't have put it better myself!
Also - the local chippie is called "Fish'n'Chick'n" where I live, part of a chain, it's not like any of this is remotely new in Britain. Fried chicken has long been an equal option with kebabs as greasy food to end a drunken night out!
Okay but for real we have to have a deep deep talk with UK chicken shops about not calling a fried chicken sandwich a “chicken burger.”
They are not the same thing. And it’s important.
Madrid
Madrid breakfast is bleak
Thinnest, smallest toast slices you’ve seen, like if a family of eight were trying to share an Olive Garden bread stick (dry, 2pcs.)
Ham (admittedly excellent), thin enough to read a newspaper through, sized to the toast
Coffee, w/ milk
Despair
Nothing more
