America deserves to be known for pizza more than borger

I feel like i see most criticism be about craft singles and burgers

we definitely are known more for borger but it’s better because they all plainly love them despite the posts

I think it’s gone, but when I lived in Sweden there was a place called American Take Away that had an earnest attempt at our pizza parlor/delivery culture. But their branding was something else

Used to hang out here all the time when I lived in Paris 🇺🇸🦅🔫

Okay, that rocks. I’ve been all over, and one of the key things I’ve learned is that I’m an US Breakfast Supremacist. There isn’t a morning culture on earth that can compete with our truck stop + Jewish + Mexican + Potato superbeast.

look there's a reason Civ VI America is a Tourism/Diplo civ

we can really throw in a fair amount of tacos, stirfries, and sushi as made-in-america

Little wary of celebrating this too forcefully because we're going to be dethroned by ROK if we're not careful
Avatar
their fried protein distinctiveness will be added to our own; their chikin will adapt to our mcchicken, resistance is futile

This is honestly what Kkangbu executive dream about before falling asleep at night
Avatar
we will simply integrate it into the machine like we always do
Avatar
America being a cultural Borg is honestly one of its best and scariest traits

Corn Cheese should've been a wakeup call. Like, how did we let them scoop us on that? A big pile of corn in a deadly amount of melted cheese sounds like the most American possible food ever.
Avatar
Dakgalbi with literal rivers of molten cheese through or around it is another area where I feel like the student has eclipsed the master. shit, now I want dakgalbi
Avatar
i am not a corn enjoyer so they can have that one but at least they’re not doing weird shit with corn like the nordics

It's fine, they imported fish and ships from Sephardic refugees, they'll eventually claim fried chicken too, call is Crispy Nandos or something.

You cannot escape American food because America will take all the food and make it its own. (Kimchee taco, anyone?)

Who's going to tell them about fry culture in Scotland?
Avatar
😂 I couldn't have put it better myself! Also - the local chippie is called "Fish'n'Chick'n" where I live, part of a chain, it's not like any of this is remotely new in Britain. Fried chicken has long been an equal option with kebabs as greasy food to end a drunken night out!
Avatar
Scotland is advanced beyond mere American frying. Truly, we can learn so much from our Scottish brethren. I dream of deep fried candy bars.
Avatar
Okay but for real we have to have a deep deep talk with UK chicken shops about not calling a fried chicken sandwich a “chicken burger.” They are not the same thing. And it’s important.
Avatar
we also need to talk with them about how they name their chicken joints. you can’t just call it “miami fried chicken” and serve normal chicken

A burger must be ground protein this is an easy one non Americans can stfu about this
Avatar
I will accept “fried in a coating or a batter” because that’s damn tasty but it has to be GROUND.
Avatar
generally not a breakfast haver but the brits get some props for the full english on this imo. can’t beat us for diversity though
Avatar
For my dollar, the breakfast burritos in America’s Sicily (New Mexico) cannot be topped
Avatar
i will see the full english and raise you texas breakfast tacos
Avatar
Any breakfast taco joints in Portland?

Avatar
I'm with you. It's also better hangover food.
Avatar
The nice thing about America is that you can often find this down the street from a place that makes legit biscuits and sausage gravy.
Avatar
I'll see the full English and raise you the contents of the public toilets at Soldier Field

Those were critical when I did a bike tour of Scotland and was burning an obscene number of calories almost every day.

Glasgow is one of my favorite places on Earth, and also probably has the worst breakfast culture on earth. Pizza n chips, my people need help.
Avatar
Madrid Madrid breakfast is bleak Thinnest, smallest toast slices you’ve seen, like if a family of eight were trying to share an Olive Garden bread stick (dry, 2pcs.) Ham (admittedly excellent), thin enough to read a newspaper through, sized to the toast Coffee, w/ milk Despair Nothing more
Avatar
like chips on the pizza or as a side? the latter was pretty common with takeaways ime
Avatar
Definitely had better breakfasts outside of Glasgow. The B&B I stayed at there had a continental breakfast buffet that absolutely did not cut it.
Avatar
From this and another comment, Big Bad Breakfast needs to franchise in Glasgow and Madrid

I like pizza for breakfast.
