Ooh, here's a good one: If dinosaurs (extinct variety) are part of fossil fuels, it's probably barely at all. Coal is made from trees, while natural gas/oil is lately from plankton.

I dunno about if it's a major misconception but birds are dinosaurs but hilariously are not "bird-hipped dinosaurs". They're technically "lizard-hipped." Their bird hips independently evolved later.
