I saw one in public yesterday and honestly I didn’t expect the bitch to be taller than the F150 in front of it absolutely ridiculous
Avatar
it's so ugly. like sooooo ugly
Avatar
I had no idea it was that tall, dang
Avatar
Yeah I had no idea either until I saw it first hand honestly I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near it with all those sharp edges it looks dangerous

several owners have received lacerations requiring stitches

Fucking bozos. Oh god what if other manufacturers pick them up on some of these design components. What if this IS THE FUTURE

Ok but also this may keep me up nights until we see the 2025 trucks coming out

I'd say this is a realistic concern, as car styling is intensely memeish, which is why about 98% of them look absolutely stupid now (and with Craptruck dna mixed in, plenty room to get even worse). In short: Agreed, I believe you Will see Shittruck design elements percolate into other vehicles.
Avatar
I doubt you’ll see it in Ford cause honestly that doesn’t seem like their design principle

Sure, #notAllMarques. There's a tiny sliver of the car market whose industrial design is restrained enough to not work like an acid eyewash—but most go wherever the wind blows. The proof is 1) size. 2) most cars look like a stormtrooper helmet right now &previous trends weren't any more intelligent
Avatar
The only way to fix this is bottom up—people stop buying cars—and sadly that's not going to happen voluntarily
Avatar
Nah. Deloreans didn’t start a trend of all stainless cars. Some memes don’t catch on.

I don't think it's stainless, but I wasn't referring to metal specifically. Car styling is, as I said, intensely memetic, like all fashion. Of course, in theory, features are supposed to trickle down from market leaders, but these days all mindshare is supposedly valid, so cars may imitate the idiot

oh my god there's a chinese knockoff of the cybertruck and somehow the cybertruck looks like a cheap knockoff of it www.carscoops.com/2024/05/dong...

I don’t know anything at all about Chinese cars, but that absolutely looks like a way better design. And also NOT stainless steel. I have to bury my head in my hands every time I think of what that ugly-ass thing is made out of.

Both Deloreans and Cybertrucks are made out of stainless steel. That’s literally the single most defining feature of both vehicles. It’s what makes their sharp corners so dangerous. Also, the entire rest of the automotive industry thinks the CT design is stupid. www.wired.com/story/this-i...
This Is Why Tesla’s Stainless Steel Cybertrucks May Be Rustingwww.wired.com Who knew stainless steel might not be such a good idea for the exterior of an electric SUV? The entire automotive industry, that’s who.
Avatar
there's varieties of stainless, though, and he picked the "staining" type
