30% of Minnesotans are complete assholes; having lived there for close to 12 years that checks out
Avatar
Yeah, I get being budget conscious, but it should definitely end at “feeding kids”. What is wrong with these people.
Avatar
Especially when I hear arguments about parents' rights to feed their kids what they want them to eat. These laws don't ban lunches made at home from the schools, they just don't charge kids to eat or force them to go hungry if they forget to pay up (or their parents can't afford it). Some people...
Avatar
Some fraction of those 30% are sad that their kids won't be able to learn the traditional values like "bullying other kids out of their lunch money" and "making fun of the kids who bring their lunch."
Avatar
1/3 of people are always wrong. It's just not always the same 1/3
Avatar
About 20% of Minnesota's population is rural and I'd bet 10% are affluent suburb people.
Avatar
Do you think the rural kids don't need feeding?
Avatar
I think rural adults are by and large right wing nincompooops who don't give a shit if kids go hungry.
Avatar
No one is missing you.
Avatar
lmao I liked the 70% that were cool. And EVERY state has a good amount of assholes.
Avatar
It was a positive story, that is where I like to focus.
Avatar
Avatar
Yep, which is a lot better than most.
Avatar
Absolutely shocked by this information. Haha
I’m not even from Minnesota, but I also approve.
Me neither. Illinois here.
Avatar
Has anyone polled Iowans? (Also, is there anyway to bypass Cruella de Governor and get the federal money to Iowa children?)
Avatar
We should do that in Michigan
Avatar
Avatar
I don’t think we’ve made it permanent yet though.
Avatar
Can confirm, free lunch is good for kids. I needed financial assistance as a kid and going hungry was never a good time
Avatar
Feeding children is popular! Who knew!
Avatar
Damn GOP killed a similar bill in Illinois
Avatar
Democrats killed it in Washington
Bull. Dems would do free lunches in a heartbeat in Washington, if the GOP didn't fight things like that at every turn.
Avatar
Lololol literally a lie
How did the GOP manage to do that here in Illinois?
Avatar
popular enough to flip 4 Rs in the house? Let's hope so!
Avatar
The other 30% are opposed to anybody getting anything.
Avatar
The MN GOP was running scare ads about this program, just completely disconnected from reality
Avatar
"Republicans were especially likely to say both that the Legislature increased spending too much (62%), and that their Walz checks were too small (64%)." Clowns.
Avatar
Minnesota seems like it would low-key be a cool place to live.
Avatar
if u want an inside perspective its pretty nice here, especially with the amount of freedom queer people have compared to other states 👍🏻
Avatar
Who would have thought that feeding hungry children would be popular among ... checks notes ... people.
Avatar
It turns out people like it and it’s good policy.
Avatar
and 27% is the Keyes Constant / Crazification Factor so that is pretty much all of the reasonable people.
As a former teacher, I agree that students should receive a healthy lunch to provide the proper nutrition necessary to thrive in school. As it is, the U. S. A. provides the least amount of funding for education of any developed country. That is deolorable!
Avatar
Also good for agriculture. Food comes from somewhere
Avatar
I remember thinking when this program stopped that there were suddenly millions of families that had something else to worry about.
Feed your neighbors' hungry children?! Communism. Sad.
People are going to start liking socialism. Next they will start demanding universal healthcare. . . .
Avatar
Ya and things like better funding for schools and teachers. Next thing you know you have a society full of critical thinkers and intelligent problem solving. Who know what that could balloon into.
Oh No!!! It'll be like Europe ! ! ! !
Avatar
well I don't know about that. some places in Europe maybe but lets face it. America is not quite like anything you can describe... even on it's best day it's an enigma.
Avatar
The same poll also finds 30% of Minnisotans are curmudgeons.
Avatar
Wait! Are you telling me that letting children go hungry is unpopular?!
Avatar
Who the hell are the 30% who don't? Lizard people?
Good for Minnesota! Excellent!
