TL;DR: we can all agree that being old is a personal failing, but it’s time we stop pretending like being a felon is a bad thing…
News Analysis: When Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies, the U.S. was confronted with a historical novelty: a felon who once held the highest office in the land. Will the label actually tarnish Trump, as it has so many people over the centuries?
A Mark of Shame for 900 Years. Until Now?www.nytimes.com “Felon” carries an ancient stigma — one that falls on millions of Americans today. Trump might well redefine it.

Biden has a bad debate night: calls to step down Documents released that show two underage women accused Trump of raping them on Epstein’s island, under oath: total media silence except in a few blogs and foreign news The media double standard is incredible to see

"The President has exclusive authority over the investigative and prosecutorial functions of the Justice Department and its officials" wow so it turns out that waiting out Biden's entire term instead of arresting Trump on January 20th *wasn't* an ironclad requirement of law and procedure?!

It’s totally fine to not know 5th grade level science concepts as long as you aren’t trying to provide expert testimony and set public policy on those topics. Like sometimes I trip on my shoelaces so I buy a lot of slip on shoes instead of trying to make shoelaces a felony

Not gonna lie, I had expected the price tag for completely lighting our Democratic system aflame so oligarchs could dash on the ashes would be higher. At least into 8 figures.

It sure would be comical if Samuel Alito had recently published an opinion in which he expressed strong feelings about flags and wrote that passersby viewing a flag flying over a building would naturally assume the flag conveys some message on the owner's behalf www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21p...

Seeing a lot of "this story is depressing not inspiring!" And yeah. Here's an actually inspiring story you may not know about: school lunch (and breakfast!) in Massachusetts is free for all students starting in 23-24 thanks to Democrats using money from the voter-passed millionaire's tax to fund it
A fifth grader has paid off the entire meal debt, and then some, for his elementary school. In a video shared to his mom’s Facebook, Daken Kramer had challenged “friends, family and local businesses to donate what they can to this cause.” He wound up turning in a check for more than $7,300.
A Missouri fifth grader raised enough money to pay off his entire school’s meal debt | CNNwww.cnn.com Kids can now eat without breaking the piggy bank – at least, at Thomas Ultican Elementary School – thanks to fifth grader Daken Kramer.

Democrats should be screaming about this from the rooftops. Instead, nobody will hear about it again once the week begins.
Weirdly, this disturbs me almost more than anything we heard about Alito. It suggests someone very deep into MAGA world, not able to distinguish between reality and the outrage machine.

If the punishment is a fine, it's only illegal for the poor
Why do drivers who get nicked for parking/speeding offences love to claim it's "money making" by the councils? Just don't speed, park illegally etc

Also, forgive me for refusing to accept the “what about the children?!” rantings of a man who is apparently concerned abt them seeing the F word while using his vast power to enable states to force child victims of rape or incest to suffer thru pregnancy and childbirth.
It's interesting that Mrs. Alito interprets attacks on Donald Trump as personal attacks against her.

At this point, anyone who proclaims they’re not voting for Biden cannot pretend to care about Palestinians (or Muslims, more broadly). Everyone knows what will happen if T wins.

I think it's quite the opposite. Every time Trump breaks a rule amd isn't held accountable the public is told he didn't do anything wrong. Jailing him is the clearest signal that he flouts rules and it would help voters update their perception of him
Got to disagree with Ruth Marcus here. There's no reason to believe that if Trump is jailed for contempt of court it will help him in a general election. An example of Trump's ability to get inside people's heads. Normal rules of politics do apply to Trump. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Merchan continuing his undefeated streak of threatening not to put up with behavior that he will clearly continue to put up with
NEW: In a sidebar today, Judge Merchan directed Trump's attorneys to tell him to stop "cursing audibly" and "shaking his head," which could intimidate the witness and affect the jury. "I won't tolerate that," Merchan said. (via Kaitlan Collins, CNN)

In words that men can understand: sometimes consenting to unwanted sex is the best of several bad options. Just because you were able to choose to swerve into a neighbor's yard rather than hit a dog or a kid, doesn't mean it wasn't a car accident. It was just the least harm.

This is, of course, the point. Like Putin, they’re weaponizing the idea of antisemitism to use it as a cudgel to begin to tell everybody how they can act and think. The project is control. Never lose track of that simple fact.
seems really cool that as a Jew I am now an anti-semite if a white nationalist christian fundamentalist says I am

This is a litmus test for liberalism and so many are failing with flying colors. A nonviolent protest against a brutal war violently suppressed with the help of some of the most prominent media and political figures in the country. History will not judge them harshly enough so let's start now.

Trump Consequences Paradox continues. More and more consequences loom closer every day, yet a single one has not yet been imposed.
NEW: Judge Merchan says that he's signed the latest order to show case and will hold a hearing next Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. ET on Trump's four latest alleged gag-order violations. (For all we know, he may rule before then on the 10 alleged violations about which he's already heard arguments.)
