A great illustration of how class is just vibes is that only one major party ticket is entirely Ivy League alumni and it’s the one that yells about the elites selling you out
I like to scroll through drama that doesn't involve me, acquaint myself of the rough outlines of said drama, forget the details as quickly as I learn them, and then go back to real life more appreciative that I choose not to be - or associate with those who are - performatively high maintenance.
Unions, too. And education.
That’s all the Dems need to run on: gun control, abortion, unions and worker rights, and education. That’s a winning formula. And if they could stay on message and avoid backing down, I really don’t think the Republicans would know what to do. They only fight one way.
As a kid who desperately craved one-on-one guidance but got none because I got excellent grades and was never bullied, I can say from experience that our on-paper indicators of a child's happiness and stability are hugely flawed.
I guess Bidens age doesn't matter that much to me cause I don't think US Presidents do nearly as much as the myth likes to tell. Reagan spent the back end of his run with Alzheimers, last guy played golf & shitposted for 4 years, idc if Bidens an ent who speaks once a yr, taking it over Project 2025
Joe Biden is ancient & self-centered, and almost certainly won't survive a second term.
I'll gladly cast my vote for him.
Why? Bc I'm not a MAGA psychopath, or a squishy weathervane, or an anarchist-adjacent crybaby, and I don't really love the idea of abandoning democracy just to prove a point.
Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.
"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread."
- Neil Gorsuch
Presidents don't dignify the histrionics of liars and despots with their attention, let alone share a stage with them for 2 hours.
If debates are the national interview for president, the skillset required to "win" them as currently constructed feels wildly unrelated to the functions of the job.
No but seriously, it's actually deranged to watch two other deranged people vie for the highest office in our broken, cynical land.
The time for rubbernecking is long over.
It's time to just accept that this is the choice we deserve because, as far as societies go, we're kind of a lemon.
ok i started watching the debate, felt a rift opening up inside my bones, deep in the hollow of my heart, a ghost howling under my clavicles, and i turned it off
the heat is melting the microplastics in my urine and it's coming out like dental floss and i've been pulling it out for five minutes like a magician's handkerchief trick
Damn, it has grass and everything? Everyone's goin on about how dark it is on that side of the moon, but it looks kinda nice to me, ngl.
