Hey Lauren, I am a card carrying Operating Engineer.
Also a third generation mechanic.
Any technical questions you may have, including how to disable air and hydraulic pump power equipment, feel free.
good info here but it should really be stressed that the pressures involved in these hydraulic systems are easily enough to kill you, make sure itβs not a live system
Ah yes, a good primer is the book The Monkey Wrench Gang. They went after the hydraulics every time. Also the oil plug, then start the engine and let it melt down. Sand in the fuel tank is good too. All fiction of course π.
I think reimporting these tactics back to the US could easily backfire on them.
I also worry that if these tactics are used widely enough long enough, eventually, a nonviolent albeit resistant protester will end up dead.
No, honestly itβs probably precisely how it will backfire on them. They vastly underestimate the number of Americans willing to die for this cause, for starters.
What makes you think that one or even one thousand dead protesters matter to these people?
They'd machine-gun every last one of these kids if they thought they could get away with it.
Israel bulldozing entire neighborhoods, Mayor Pete's South Bend, Indiana bulldozing policies, California's $100 million encampment bulldozing industry, business as usual for oppressive regimes π
This is a fair question. I recall protests during my time without heavy-handed responses, but I admit I was younger and disinterested in most, so I didn't look that close.
