I think there’s been a bit of a misunderstanding here. When I said “they,” I was referring to Congress, not to the Onion. I wasn’t saying the Onion should have satirized the shooting at Emanuel AME; I was playing along with the headline to say Congress should have banned Roofs then.
We need to seriously reconsider our future as a nation and how best to build a better future then what we have.
We are a parody of what we claim to be. so maybe we should lean into it.
