white guy next to me has a tattoo of the chinese character for white (白) on his arm do we think - he thinks it says something inspirational? - he thinks being white is inspirational? - he got trolled by his tattoo artist?

maybe he was just tagged and released back into the wild

Literally LOL. Well played.

There are many possible layers it would seem.

"I asked for birthday cake"

I'd love it to be the case that this is a highly self-aware joke, but...

I mean, I have the kanji "shi" tattooed on my old white-ass right hip ironically, so *maybe*...?

I like number three, but any are possible. You should have asked!

4. He knows exactly what it says because he asked for it. He can bullshit people *and* do the easter egg. 5. He wanted a picture of a birthday cake and this is what he wound up with.

I once saw a Korean of my acquaintance look at a tattoo a girl got on her neck and say “Isn’t that the number three at the Peking Palace?”
Avatar
I'm just wondering if the tattoo artist did nazi what was happening, or was on-board with it.
Avatar
Honestly I feel like he got ‘white’ tattoo’d on him for the meme and it was none of these options
Avatar
Not A or B. White nationalist wanting Chinese characters doesn't really track imo.

"I'm hoping for a Crayola sponsorship."

Don't know but I am seriously contemplating getting 愚蠢的馬鈴薯 tattooed on my shoulder.

He’s probably Italian and just trying to make sure he’s counted as white after the inevitable sale of America to China in order to refinance Trump’s commercial real estate portfolio.

He likes the image and didn’t think farther OR he’s a slightly more complicated white supremacist than average
Avatar
definitely #1, almost certainly one of the other two as well
Avatar
Numbers one and three-- he thinks it says something else AND he got trolled.

白 maybe he was going for something epic like “clear minded” and completely failed.

"I thought it said cake? it looks like cake! I thought these were ideograms??"
Avatar
Did he maybe think the same people reading his tattoo couldn't see the color of his skin? (This would comport with my impression of white supremacists.)
Avatar
No reason it can’t be both 1) and 3) simultaneously. I hear that’s a fairly common thing.
Avatar
It's either C or its the name of some niche anime character with white color theme I'd say.

Avatar
Unless his first name is either Walter or Betty, I’m guessing first and third.
Avatar
I like the idea of him being trolled

Avatar
- he know what it says and thinks it’s funny
