Move over, Rover! About 1,500 years ago in Patagonia, a hunter-gatherer's animal bestie was a fox that was about the size of a German Shepherd. Archaeologists found the extinct canid's skeleton in a human grave; analysis of the bones showed it ate the same food as humans & was likely kept as a pet 🧪
Foxes are the best parts of cats and dogs put into one
The reason the English invented foxhunting is because they're godless and have no love in their shiveled up hearts BECAUSE THEY BOILED ALL THE FLAVOR OUT OF SAID HEARTS
FIGHT ME ENGLAND
I have a friend who is active in fox hunt sabotage in one of the countries on that island. That person makes me proud. Fuck fox hunting right in the ear
I mean we've known about human doing this for a while but just not that long ago. It is definitely unfair to assume that people long ago didn't also just appreciate animals for the sake of it though like they weren't robots they had empathy lol.
Sometime 1500 years ago an early medieval villager said: when I die bury me with my best friend. And all his other friends knew instantly what he wanted.
It’s hard to imagine how humans could ever have gone about putting wild canids to work without befriending them first.
As I’m sure I don’t have to tell you, but will remind the party, people who work with intelligent working animals report that the animals seem to love working with their teammates.
Historically cats are definitely useful and do serve a real purpose (pest control) but I strongly suspect that was more of a pretext given by cat loving humans for keeping the cats around. Sometimes all a person needs is a soft little guy.
