This is @jomc.bsky.social’s book
This guy says in the replies that this was 7-10 years ago but it makes you wonder how many companies are still doing it like this with 100% human labor. We already know every AI company is doing this with some degree of human intervention, they just call it “training the model.”

“Sentimentality, the ostentatious parading of excessive and spurious emotion, is the mark of dishonesty, the inability to feel; the wet eyes of the sentimentalist betray his aversion to experience, his fear of life, his arid heart…”

Muriel Spark has a wonderful essay about this and the need to mistrust sentimental art that tries to move you in this way. Let me see if I can find it.
I don’t find being emotionally “gutted” by movies and TV shows to be a transcendent experience. I usually just find it… gutting rather than cathartic. I spend my week writing and thinking through “gutting” ideas, experiences and memories.

All he had to do was not enthusiastically fund materially and politically the massacre of 50,000 and counting innocent people and folks like me would have eaten the shit and said ah he’s better than usual I guess.

The Washington Post had this to say about my book: “His prose has the smooth and constant warmth of blood in a vein, a fluidity so steady it sometimes seems no different from stillness.” You should buy it. www.amazon.com/Minotaur-at-...

Poverty and perceived precarity, at their most basic level, ultimately serve to deprive folks from having time to be political subjects and having the resources to risk political actions. It’s by design. A world without extreme haves and have nots is a world that actually has to do democracy.
We did a paper on student collective action that found that students at more "elite" institutions protested more, likely because they felt they had the *right* to protest

you should absolutely buy this book—a gorgeously written, creatively constructed memoir about travel and love and longing and figuring yourself out

The people who like it a lot end up just messaging or emailing me instead of rating it, which is lovely. Also it’s funny that the lowest rating on came from a dude I made fun of on Twitter. Which was fair.
we need to get that rating higher!
