Might be worth keeping an eye out for a loose one if you can find it kinda cheap but there was a smash bros coin back when the 3DS and Wii U version came out.
It's not just that, it's a tech junk thing. A lot of companies think "futuristic" means it looks like a PlayStation 2 asset. See also MSI video card coolers. They try their best to make that shit look like some sort of cheese grater
