Nah. Incumbency matters. The best chance at beating Trump is the guy who already beat him once. Despite his flaws.
Avatar
The best chance to beat Trump is not someone a majority of Americans think is medically incapable of being president.

History says you are wrong. You are thinking of the Biden Presidency as one man, it isn't. It's a team, and Biden has highly competent people behind him despite all his failings. The same cannot be said about Trump, who will only have sycophant's because all he cares about is loyality.

"Don't worry, you're voting for a faceless cabal of court eunuchs to run the country in our dying emperor's stead!" enjoy 20 years of trump, moron

No one in history has won their re-election campaign after having such poor approval rating before the election. History says he's doomed to fail and he hasn't been convincing anyone otherwise

I'm Biden! I'm Biden! I'm Biden!

The vast medical knowledge of the majority of Americans has entered the chat.

I’ve been saying the same thing. Incumbancy is incredibly powerful.

I don’t disagree with that. I just don’t think either of these candidates are good.
Avatar
Oh, this is definitely a "lesser of two evils" situation. Comparing the two candidates, it's a no-brainer, but that's not to say the Democratic choice is good. Only that he's the better option.

The playbook needs to be thrown TF out. Its meaningless now. Republicans are running a convicted felon and rapist and they don't care. They don't fucking care. Find the candidate who gets the base all worked up and ready to vote for him like trump.

Could you become an even more mysterious international person of mystery? Please.

I see. Pointing out that both of these candidates are highly problematic makes you want to cover your ears?

I wish a Florida sinkhole would swallow him.

many people are wondering why Republican Party elders don't remove their unfit candidate.
Avatar
I'm guessing because the other ones were complete duds in the primaries. DeSantis was the biggest surprise dude to me. I had no clue only Florida liked him 😁😁😁
Avatar
If they cared about the good of the nation and the dignity of the presidency they would insist Trump stand down.
Avatar
His sentence (which I'm assuming will be pretty light) might determine what further course they take. "We're backing a felon" is a much stranger flex than "he's old, but he's had a pretty damn good term."
Avatar
Good term? Um ... What reality did you living in?
Avatar
The reality where his expanded PSLF program forgave my then 52 year old wife's insurmountable $92k of student debt last year.

I don't think even Florida really likes him anymore
Avatar
Funny thing about gerrymandering: they maybe never did.

There's aren't any potential Republicans who aren't unfit candidates to be President.
Avatar
Because they are (or want to be) just like him. They love who he is, what he stands for, and his record. Occam's razor 🤦🏼‍♂️

The Philadelphia Inquirer has been absolutely phenomenal over the past year and this 2023 article is worth reading over and over: "America is entering its most important, pivotal year since 1860, and the U.S. media is doing a terrible job explaining what is actually happening."
Journalism fails miserably at explaining what is really happening to Americawww.inquirer.com Momentous week of GOP debate, Trump's arrest gets "horse race" coverage when the story's not about an election, but authoritarianism.

The Irony of having this article behind a paywall is unreal.

Well that sucks. Okay, I'm going to test the limits of alt text here... No, apparently I'm not. Now I'm locked out too! It worked on my PC, but on iPad it's a no-go. Weird!

Honestly, every person has strengths and weaknesses. Nobody's perfect. If Joe Biden needs to take a nap in the afternoon before he has a negotiating phone call with Bibi or Vlad, isn't that better than replacing him with someone who has far less institutional knowledge to work from?
Or let's say, hmmm, takes orders from someone named Vlad
