The king looked at the newborn in the midwife's arms. "A dragon?" "Oh," the queen said. "You slept with a dragon?" "No dear, you did. The knight you sent to kill me suggested-" "He said the dragon was no more, and he found you in its lair..." "I'm sorry, I'll go-" "No! No. Stay."

If you genuinely believe it's easy for trans kids in the UK to get blockers, you have literally zero idea of NHS wait times for trans care, how long the process is, and how many trans kids are even going this route. Make it illegal/impossible, and people are going to DIY. Much like abortion.

Thinking about the Blues Brothers and how the police sending out hundreds of cars and a full urban tactical deployment to arrest two guys who disrupted a Nazi parade hits very differently now.

Labour have been doing really well in their first few days in power and then, not unexpectedly, Streeting charges out to prove that he's the transphobic bigot we were pretty certain he was.
Wes Streeting is a disgrace to queer solidarity and to evidence-based policymaking. That he is Health Secretary will lead to more suicides among trans youth in the UK.

Wes Streeting looking to implement a permanent ban on puberty blockers, subject to the outcome of court proceedings and consultation. Reminder that even the Cass Review didn't recommend that. Congrats everyone on your lovely new, definitely not bigoted, government.

hey did you know I wrote The Midnight Bargain, a 1. frothy, 18th century fashion and spirit summoning fantasy romance that was 2. actually a book about abortion that never mentions the word abortion once? This is why I did that.
The Gospel of Matthew Trewhella: How a Militant Anti-Abortion Activist Is Influencing Republican Politicswww.propublica.org The Wisconsin pastor was once a political pariah. But now his book is being quoted by politicians and former Trump officials. One activist is using it to disrupt elections.

Miracles are real and they are provided by science I am in tears. we can *prevent HIV transmission*.
Lenacapavir did so well at preventing HIV infection that it hit the threshold where the only ethical thing to do was stop the randomized trial and immediately offer it to literally every participant. That's huge news. www.npr.org/sections/goa...
A new way to prevent HIV delivers dramatic results in trialwww.npr.org The testing of lenacapavir was halted because results were so impressive — 100% effectiveness. The decision was made to give all participants the injection rather than the alternative daily pill.

They want to take away overtime pay “How many hours did you work this week?” “60” “Well well well looks like we only need you for 20 hours next week, so no OT, sorry about that”
Project 2025, page 592: make it harder for employees to be paid at overtime rates by allowing employers to average the number of hours worked over 2-4 weeks

Can I also just point out that UK Labour plus Greens plus Lib Dems is a leftist majority. Europe is not going far right if the left holds together.
Breaking news: The first projections after polls closed in France’s legislative election put a leftist alliance in the lead, as the populist, anti-immigration far right falls behind and performs far below expectations.
France election live updates: Left-wing bloc leads in results projectionswww.washingtonpost.com The populist, anti-immigration National Rally party had been hoping to install France’s first far-right government since World War II, with 28-year-old Jordan Bardella as prime minister.

Also: Get off your arse and vote. My constituency was won for Labour by 15 votes. A high turnout from the French sorted this. You don't vote? Well, the fash do. If you're replying to this with why it's ideologically impure for a truly left wing person to vote, please just block yourself, I'm tired.

Imagine being dramatically unfollowed IRL. You're going about your business in a grocery store when some random guy sidles up to you. "I'm going to stop following you," he whispers. "I've been following you for a long time, but no longer. Not after your recent statements." And then he sidles away
