Seriously, just because he didn't *play* heartthrobs doesn't mean he wasn't handsome. He had the same class of devastating attractiveness as Alan Rickman, in my opinion.

The best character actors *make* you notice them; it's an art, one at which Mr Sutherland, and the late Mr Rickman, both excelled.

And tbh he played the closest thing to a heartthrob in The Eagle Has Landed and I find it hard to believe that was the only time

I think it's a combination of decent looks but the charisma & not taking themselves too seriously that makes both of them smoke shows.

This is true but also I think Hawkeye was supposed to be a heart throb. It's been FOREVER since I saw the movie but like I am pretty sure the "ladies man" rep that was all over the character on the TV show was indeed from the movie.
