This article is jaw-dropping. Obviously it’s early days, and the treatment is expensive, but it should get cheaper and better over time. Amazing. nymag.com/intelligence...

RESULT: Francois Hollande, the former president from 2012 to 2017 (a center-left figure who alienated his left & named Macron to his Cabinet, but just ran with the Left coalition) has WON. This was a 3-way runoff: Hollande got 43%, with 31% for the RN & 26% for LR.

Happy #primeweek! I just want to let y’all know that the Amazon shipping warehouse where my husband works is denying workers fans during a nationally recognized heat emergency and everything you order during time week places workers’ lives at risk.

I’m not commenting on That Thing From Last Night, but I will say that IMO The West Wing did a lot of damage, as far as people’s expectations of how things are/should be.

If anyone from the media or a licensing company asks for permission to use your pic/vid, ask them about 1: compensation 2: exclusive or non-exclusive 3: the length of the license’s period 4: for which platforms. The ppl who do the initial outreach aren’t allowed to offer $ unless you ask /2

Note well, "Luca" and "Turning Red" were the Pixar movies (along with "Soul") that were released directly to Disney+ during the pandemic. Luca was the #1 streamed movie of 2021; Turning Red was the #2 streamed movie of 2022. That seems pretty universal. (Soul also streamed well + 2 Oscars.)
Just fold the studio into Disney and kill it already. Make Toy Story sequels till the sun fucking burns out. Love how this shift conveniently happened when more woman/POC were really pushing to direct their own stories. Defining their experiences as not "universal" is saying the quiet part aloud.

What is this crap AI illustration, Boston Globe? Beyond it being the usual overworked, lurid mess, did anyone bother to count the irises?

There's this really cool resource called Logo Archive, that I've become familiar with via its Substack. Today I saw, in passing, a Rei Yoshimura logo for Japan Tobacco Inc., circa 1975. And it looked familiar! Why? Because it was used for a different platform, more recently (but flipped).

Strangely, people who complain that Black pro ball players didn’t play against the best players in the world before integration never seem to get that the white players didn’t play against the very best either

Remember, "hallucination" is just a fancy term for "garbage in, garbage out." AI can only recombine existing pieces of information, and if that information is bad, so is the answer that AI coughs up. futurism.com/the-byte/ceo...

It’s already bad that OpenAI's female-coded AI assistant reflects strategies that women use to not make men angry. That OpenAI didn’t take Johansson seriously when she said “no” is just the cherry on the 💩 sundae. bsky.app/profile/phil...
