i think they're just telling grok to look for the most-shared posts and follow a "here's what happened / here's the reaction it's getting / here's the moral of the story" rubric format. it's absolutely working perfectly and they should keep doing it
So, Grok is just doing the "write a news article in your own words and add a few reactions from social media" thing a lot of news outlets did in the past decade, but without being aware of what "context" is?
Every way you look at this, it sucks.
Its current performance of being a bullshit amplifier might be it working as intended, generating views with no regard for truth.
It they get it to actually, accurately digest real news, it would cover genuine writers' work without driving traffic to them.
Musk initially said he was going to develop an AI that knew what facts were, and I imagine CS people told him "well, that's impossible, but have one that has the personality of a dorky 14-year old humorist" and he was like SOLD.
When their most likely intentional goal (well, to me, and truthfully I am no expert) is to ensure information is utterly unverifiable and users can’t tell fact from fiction, it makes sense they’re pushing AI written news blurbs and don’t care how bad it is 🫠
