It’s another national Holiday and Jamelle Bouie is spending time telling people with 10 followers to fuck off on Bluesky. I cannot stress how much this man represents our collective posting id
I had planned on healthy lentil soup for dinner but I am pretty sure I need takeout for dinner. something with carbs and salt and cheese and more carbs
I’m creeped out. The property mgt people switched vendors because the first technician to check the water in my basement, Scott, was dawdling. Scott has my cell number and contacted me, the renter, to ask why I’d complained.
I am furious. Huge boundary violation. It makes me feel unsafe.

the worst dudes online are the guys who are like “the time for electoral politics is over, it’s time for guillotines.” yeah bud i’m sure you’ll stop posting and get the ball rolling on the guillotines any minute now.
A job I was looking forward to just fell through because I requested a very basic “please don’t feed my work into the AI garbage chute pls” clause in the contract
That was apparently against company policy and non-negotiable
If anyone needs a book cover I have an opening in my schedule
I just canceled my lawn mowing service because they were dickheads. I was in my rights. They've been assholes since I hired them.
So why is my pulse pounding like I'm running from a saber-toothed tiger? Decades in public service and I still quake
I LOVE being on my local library board! I get to stay in touch with what is going on in my county, help set policy, and work with others to keep our library spaces fun and engaging!
My appointment is a 3 year term (I'm just over halfway through). I was appointed my my county commissioner.
And to tag on to this: For the People is a great group looking to help get left-wing people involved with their local library via joining boards or other meaningful supports! www.librariesforthepeople.org (full disclosure, I volunteer w/them)
One thing you can do to resist this is to get on the board of your local public library. For most municipalities it's an appointment, not anything elected. Commitment averages an hour or two per month.
I'm a former library director. Happy to talk to people about it.
I fact checked this before reskeeting because I did not want to believe it was real. Needing identification to enter a library? Keeping kids out of the public fucking library?
Libraries are for everyone, all ages, no papers required. They are a cornerstone of democracy.

Everyone is always afraid to say why people like Trump or Marie Le Pen have some level of popularity and it’s just that there’s a lot of people in the world who believe in racism. You end up with these goofy ass explanations for Trump where it’s NAFTA or shit and it’s like no you know what it is
