On Friday, at queer-owned activist bookstore Bluestockings, I saw Bianca Xunise (pic) in person after previously talking to them virtually for my Kirkus Reviews Q&A on their new book, Punk Rock Karaoke. I work here and one time while I was opening, a worker at a neighboring place came over and walked me over to some poo on their steps and told me it was our fault for having a bathroom :) I offered to clean it for them + apologized for not being a 24/7 resource but they just rolled their eyes

They’ll fight tooth and claw to call themselves progressives, but they support nothing but inhospitality for homeless neighbors, even if that means certain death for some. They call me condescending for saying so, but can’t refute it beyond “I just think someone else somewhere else should help them”

I only visited Bluestockings in NYC once, but they had the book I needed on the aesthetics of gay cruising and also I got this absurd blue latte. God I hope they don't get evicted.
