BREAKING: An Indiana Republican has filed a bill that would allow kids as young as 14 to drop out and work on corporate farms during school hours.
Kids would only need to complete 8th grade in order to work 40 hours a week as a farm laborer.
AFAIK, the Convention on the Rights of the Child is the only multilateral treaty where the US is the only UN member state not to ratify. Exceptionalism squared
They are desperate to get the next generation as far away from schools as possible. Not for the reasons they claim of course, but to continue dumbing down. Can’t have critical thinkers growing up who won’t vote for them or will notice they are fascists
End Stage Capitalism. Well actualy theres one step more thats possible aka "Cant afford your baby? Sell its Organs!" because the Republicans only care about them before they are born.
For sure. That's what makes the dynamic so dangerous: don't give up all your organs to capitalism like the GOP wants, if you vote Dem we'll only take a kidney.
Anyways I'm glad to be moving back overseas soon...
Senator palpatine needs a new ling and kidney afterall, wouldn't want to let those kids in the poor neighborhoods go to waste, they were only gonna be food for the prison industry anyway.
I mean yes but even that quote continues "Lifes are the Emperors currency. Spent it well." aka while absolutly despicable it includes a "Dont needlessly waste lifes" aspect. Working 40 hours on a farm without a say is uh... yeah. not that.
There is also a huge difference between ratification and actualization. We should hold the US to a higher standard than we do countries experiencing conflicts... but we can't actualize that expectation because the US hasn't ratified this international treaty.
