If you put a doorbell in your commercial, just know that I will go out of my way not to purchase your product or service.

...I feel the same way about police sirens in music... "Day n Nite" used a klaxxon; I know it's an option!

The tinnitus sound too, it should be banned in everything

Alarm clocks. Crying/screaming babies. Horns. Sirens. All in the same category And a LOT of it is McDonald's breakfast ads
I actually despise dogs in commercials. …and horses! My doodle watches TV and lives for the moment when she can attack the widescreen to get at whatever animal is displayed.

Same, have a Jack Russell, he’ll smash my TV one day, I’m convinced of it..

Knocking on the door sounds too.

My dog got used to the ones on TV and only responds to OUR doorbell. I lucked out.

Probably smarter than mine. 😉

Barking dogs, doorbells, sirens, ringing iPhones (& other iPhone sounds), women screaming & large screaming crowds Use any of these in your commercial, you are dead to me; will never purchase your product(s) I’m lucky in that I can mute it all (and do) but my poor doggos when I’m not in the room 🙄

bloody radio series when a phone rings... i always check!! more phool me

Indeed, but meows might be equally bad.

In my boy's case, it's other dogs barking.

Are your dogs called Ghost and the Darkness ?😁

you can predict when ththose things are going to happen?
Avatar
Yes. Easily. If you are watching TV via a browser you can deploy an ad blocker too.

Just magically use your psychic power to know ahead of time when a doorbell sound will be played.
Avatar
Your dogs don’t have to watch TV. That’s another option for you.
Avatar
You think that dogs have to be watching TV to hear a doorbell sound?

*makes a commercial that's nothing but doorbells ringing*

I’m sure all of the other 39 replies to this post say the same thing but idc. Same goes for radio ads and songs that feature horns or sirens - I will not patronize your business, I will actively encourage others to do the same.

The one on the right looks ready to go at all times

Can’t tell you how many times I thought my dog would smash my TV to bits after seeing, dogs, cats, horses, any manner of critters and cartoons in advertisements and shows. He’s a Jack Russell and will go for anything. My heart can’t take it anymore..
Avatar
I don't have dogs and a doorbell in a show still makes me jump out of my skin
Avatar
Avatar
I will go away if you put a doorbell in this business I don't think I purchased..
Avatar
maybe we should eliminate doorbells altogether
Avatar
I (thankfully) don’t have one My dogs are my doorbell 😹

Now this would be an actually good AI product: a device that would selectively mute sounds from streaming audio.

And while you’re at it, no swearing in music.

Ding dong is just how you start a canine jazz ensemble. It's not about the barks they make, but the barks they didn't make.
Avatar
If Dems were smart they would run on an "Anti-Doorbells in Commercials" platform.
I take the same stance about sirens in radio ads.
Avatar
I don't even have a dog and I support this initiative.
Avatar
So you’re saying that I were to make a bunch of commercials for products/services I dislike and included a doorbell, I’d be driving away a potential customer for said product/service? Interesting
Avatar
Our doorbell is an old phone ringing. So our dog looses it whenever we're watching something and the phone rings.

Likewise crying babies, police sirens, ringing telephones…
