A liberal supermajority led by a bland white man with good hair and zero interest in reshaping the status quo? Over here in America we call that California
I mean, as Republicans have shown in the House this term, infighting is facilitated by tiny majorities, not large ones. A big majority gives you a lot more wiggle room to help lots of different blocs achieve their priorities.
The way Parliament's run, really not sure why it matters if they have 400 seats or 500.
Tories not being the Opposition would be amazing, that doesn't seem to be happening, but that always felt far-fetched/hopium.
A hell of a lot more then keir is likely to do, if we got that much we could possibly a federal jobs guarantee and possibly a program to automatically give people money during demand slumps. And make the affordable Healthcare act much better
The House has 435 members.
Majority (219) Are held by republicans.
Senate has 100. Republicans currently have 49 seats
Let’s say that the centrist blue dogs who are “socially progressive” on domestic issues took over 100 republican seats.
Life would be a lot better.
Just as a note, that was mostly a shitpost. I do think Democrats would be able to get more things done if they had a wider majority like that, but I expect so little from them at this point that I wouldn't be surprised if they floundered and wasted that opportunity somehow, as they have before.
Last time they had super Majority they were very productive but people don’t give them much credit.
They had two members in and out of the hospital who died. 2009-2010. And Lieberman was part of their supermajority. And even Sinema and Manchin both are to his left.
