I ignored anything that wasn’t right wing based (or a huge corporation) for a long time because everybody’s got to eat, but when Musk took over I yeeted EVERYTHING
It might be exacerbated as everyone got pissed off at having to sift through checkmarks just to read actual content. I was already looking through scripts that block checkmark accounts because it's reaching that point.
I was doing it before he took over but I noticed a lot more people talking about it when he did. And the quality of the ads? Woof.
Anyway, blocking is an essential safety mechanism for any social media site. If I were still there, I’d go private (as long as that is still allowed).
This is why Gab, Parler, TruthSocial etc can never stick the landing. They don't want to just do their own thing like we do, they want libs to pwn and victims to harass.
Continues to confirm that when right-wingers talk about free speech, what they mean is that they can force you to listen to them. (Because IRL their family has stopped talking to them)
Jfc. It's literally the most important user tool to protect themselves against abuse on social media, essential for preventing high-follower trolls from sending countless assholes into your mentions.
“Whenever someone makes me feel an uncomfortable feeling or experience introspection on the service I host at Twitter.com, I simply delete their account. Why would people want a block button? It makes no sense.”
What do you mean? He's corralled all the abusive jackrabbits into one social network no one else uses and then helpfully marked it with a big "X," the universal symbol for "Do Not Enter."
Oh absolutely. I was blocking anything with a paid badge in addition to the advertising, like it was a game. Once the final 10% of accounts I follow have moved I can delete that app and never trouble myself again.
