WIRED caught an AI company scraping its articles w/o permission. Turns out, Amazon was hosting the machine doing the scraping, even though that violates Amazon's terms of service.
Oh! And the AI company is funded by Jeff Bezos.

Let me get this straight first they said it was very complicated for your pretty little heads, and then they said it’s OK to crawl the website because “if the user gives you the website or part of it in a query that’s just like as if a human did it so we can ignore robots.txt”
do I have this right?
The immediate response should be for Wired to host articles that only the scraper will pick up that detail how and why Amazon workers should unionize in response to popular queries on Perplexity's service.
Kind of like going to the grocery store two to three times a day and taking one of each of the free samples. And then turning around and selling those to other people.
"WIRED found the company had access to a server using an unpublished IP address—44.221.181.252"
Has anyone told Barbra Streisand about this *unpublished* IP address?
