It’s so frustrating — I just cannot get my idea landlord to come over and repair this leaky plot in my WIP novel. At this point it’s threatening to undermine the entire foundation of my main character.

The problem with people who do Copyright Discourse to justify not wanting to pay for stuff ("ideas landlords! capitalism! sharing ebooks is redistribution of the means of production!") is, basically, they're morons.

Three of my last four romance novels have had North American protagonists mired in feelings from high school. Not complaining, they were all terrific romances, just slightly wondering if someone needs to do a massive intervention on the high school system.

I was just looking at Death in the Spires (17 in the Kindle store!) and I saw the AI summary of the reviews: "Readers praise the writing as excellent, grammatically correct, and free of weird words." If ever AI proved it was bullshit. I have never written ANYTHING free of weird words.

Pretty much all the big ones now have boilerplate language for the contract, and you absolutely want it in the contract.

a small PSA - every author, when getting an offer, should be asking what the publisher's AI position is along with the deal terms. You may not be able to change things, but the publishers need to be made to state their LLM, narrator and artwork position ever time.
