It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to be frustrated if you don’t have a space space to say that offline. It’s okay to say you’re scared here. Getting it out of your head makes it a little easier to unfreeze and take action. If you need somewhere to say something, reply. I won’t respond unless asked.

I think a lot about the fact that a lot of people don't have safe places in real life to say to someone else: "I'm really scared." So people use social media for that but don't preface the posts with: "I'm really scared." It usually comes out as "we're all doomed and gonna die" or as jokes.

I have a weakness for truly awful books that shouldn’t exist but do. The Descent games from the 90s, despite having almost nothing in the way of characters or world building, got a three-novel cycle which, yes, I’ve read. It kinda ruled. The plot was developed almost whole cloth for the books.

So this has been bouncing around and I was initially skeptical of it, but apparently there might actually be something to this. I'm not a tax lawyer so I can't really say one way or another, but they did publish Project 2025 and they've also sponsored the Republican National Convention.

The last verse in Emerson, Lake, and Palmer’s “Karn Evil 9: Part 3” may be the best distillation of dystopic science fiction— “But I gave you life?” “What else could you do?” “To do what was right!” “I’m PERFECT. Are you?”

Maybe there’s something you’re angry about. That’s ok. But a survey isn’t an invitation or free pass to abuse someone. The person, or persons, reading responses is a volunteer. We are all volunteers. Conventions happen through the work of volunteers. Anthrocon very much needs more volunteers.

Everybody has their kinks, and I’ve worked really hard to hide mine. But I’m gonna stop being ashamed of what I’m sure people I know will see as considerably less weird than I’ve always thought they might.
