A well-respected local enviro org wants to do research to stop offshore wind in NJ. #OSW Harms might be sand replenishment & wildlife. IMHO they could spend their $$$ better elsewhere. My study ideas: - can DERs reduce need for OSW - benefits of reduced O&G shipping Your ideas?

Thinking a lot lately about how California needs to cut climate pollution ~7-8% per year from now on, has nothing like the necessary policies in place to do so, and how nearly everyone else is even farther off track. We have so much work to do, you guys.

More songs from the climate #playlist: Jackson Browne’s “For Everyman”. Do u know the story? The song was written as a response to “Wooden Ships” and is intended to remind us that deliverance from apocalypse must come for everyone, not just for the select few. So…rest as u need, but keep going.

I don’t think I’ve shared much of my “climate” playlist over here yet. #playlist At any rate, a lot of the songs are about floods & power outages. (I gotta go look for fire related content.) Here’s one of the best: McMurtry’s “Hurricane Party”https://youtu.be/lQI_lI0vC6Y?si=_M1AufEGqhIHrxuq

The worst super power is climate vision: the ability to imagine what a landscape will look like 50 or 100 years hence if we don’t stop burning fossil fuels. But more and more we don’t need imagination: our most precious landscapes r changing before our eyes. #ActOnClimate x.com/misterduncan...

The Biden-Harris Administration's policies helped double America's solar power plants in the last three years. Double.
"half of America’s solar capacity was installed in the last three and a half years. There’s now enough capacity to power 32.5 million homes." Not too shabby, right @lissaharris.bsky.social?

Here's the thing about weird creeps- their proposed policies are also weird and creepy, and also bad.

This is a remarkable paragraph. Through all the incredible internal US political drama of July, intense international prisoner swap negotiations were going on behind the scenes. Biden was on the phone to the Slovenians right before he announced he would not run again!

Watching the signs wave as Usha Vance told her immigrant story was a whole mood.
I've seen a lot of one-offs of people holding these signs, but what is truly chilling is a sea of these being held up by delegates.

The US steel manufacturing fleet is the worlds's oldest. Decision time: invest in modern DRI tech or lock in coal use (& CO2 emissions & health impacts) for another 15 to 20 years. The good news: steel emissions are no longer "hard to abate"! www.canarymedia.com/articles/gre...
Cleaner steelmaking is actually starting to happenwww.canarymedia.com A new report is “cautiously optimistic” about global efforts to decarbonize iron and steel production. But a rise in coal-based steelmaking threatens that progress.

When you engage people in climate solutions, it makes them more supportive of climate action - even in some cases changing their mind about whether it's real and it's serious. I tell some compelling stories of this happening in my book Saving Us but here's the cross-sectional data!

A heatwave in Eastern Europe is generating temperatures of 42-44°C (107-111°F). Anthropogenic climate change - how to slow it, mitigate it, adapt to and survive it, how to care for one another as we succumb to it - is the most critical issue of ours or of any lifetime.
