Today in 1935, Willie O'Ree was born in Fredericton, NB. On Jan. 18, 1958, he became the first Black Canadian to play in the NHL when he suited up for the Boston Bruins. A member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, he has also received the Congressional Gold Medal.
