Midwest folks: when’s the last time you experienced a tropical depression up there? They’re nothing scary but I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen one there.
I think my parents in East Dayton were 11 days. I got lucky and went back to college at UC which had power. I remember taking my laptop to the library to play MW4 lol.
That one stuck with me because of that news story of a person who lost his entire family because they tried to drive during the storm to escape the flooding.
A couple years ago a barely coherent hurricane (as in it was still swirling cohesively like a cyclone but massively weakened) managed to get up in Michigan. We got some heavy ish rain and some gusty wind.
I am South Central U.S. so we get them when they spin off from the Gulf coast and move northeastwards inland. Bunches of rain, maybe some gusty wind but nothing apocalyptic, might spin off a few twisters if it is extremely muggy & hot, & drops in temp too quickly.
Back in…I think 2008 we got hurricane remnants that turned into a huge storm—a foot of rain, tornadoes, lost power for 4 days. The coasts can kindly keep that crap to themselves.
