As a campaign manager I assure you that there is basically nothing more valuable than a volunteer who will regularly complete the core voter outreach tasks, if you are canvassing or making calls on a regular basis and even halfway decent, you are worth your weight in gold <3

Blue states still have swing districts, check your district to be sure but yeah, it matters. Honestly if you are doing calls, any amount of optimization is nice but just *doing it* is the biggest thing, most people simply do not do it at all and every campaign needs it.

Phone banking is a useful tactic that is easy to do distributed; if you have the time and the energy, it's one of the best ways a grassroots volunteer can spend their time. Most useful calls are A) local calls (find a local Dem, good turnout for them trickles up) and B) calls into tight swing states

The Trumpists are performing "inevitability" as a way of trying to make "fetch" happen. It was their exact tactic in '22. Why are we falling for it again?

The Trump campaign "surge" is actually resembling Romney's more than Biden's. He wants better numbers to take down an incumbent. There's am arrogance developing about an enthusiasm gap that isn't showing up in high quality data and a lead that doesn't look all that durable. And they have $ issues.

It's important that he's talking about big changes to the court because in the context of a reelection bid: a) indicates he thinks it's popular; b) acknowledging that popularity makes court reform a political reality that other politicians now have to deal with

Anecdata with a sample of 1 (me): I think some people who previously were dead-set against changing the court are now open to it because of recent very bad decisions, like presidential immunity. So the practical politics might have changed.

I know we're getting a ton of these such that it's reaching "hipster coffee shop meme" levels but my elderly mom and her older sister were talking about the assassination attempt and the election and the gist was not positive for Trump.

Every single person I've talked to about it casually has either not cared or said things I would not repeat lol, like I live in a bubble sure, but it is unanimous

According to Project 2025, which is the heart of Trump's campaign and platform, if you teach or talk about the existence of LGBTQ people then you are a sex offender and should be imprisoned.

Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.
