A congressman asking about whether a university leader wants their institution to be "cursed by God" seems sort of insane/newsworthy, but it did not make it into any of the three top stories in the Times about the hearing.
Christianity. This is an extremely Christian reading of the passage. The fact that it's not being read/recited in the original language is a hint, as is the conflation of the nation promised to Abram with the state of Israel, as is the incorrect use of the name Abraham.
And if you think they aren’t all at each other’s throats at least in part because they believe how they believe, don’t know what to tell ya. No piece of land would be worth this kind of loss to me.
If I can communicate well enough to know what is included in this phrase, then I achieved a meaning that was intended. And the only criticism is from people who are prob religious yet knew what I was talking about anyway.
I’m commenting not so much on you but more the original reading by the congressman. Sorry, your post was poorly drafted so I wasn’t quite sure what you were on about.
Only newsworthy when a Dem congressperson slips up (and apologizes). Depending on religion/skintone of the Democrat, the fact of the slipup will be noted (“made comments that critics called biased against —“) for years after the actual quote or apology ceases to be mentioned
To be fair I wish every Ivy League college was cursed by God. Preferably with unquenchable flame that devours every building but I’ll take 8.0 earthquake or underground sinkhole in a pinch. Hey even Bubonic plague, not a fan but it’d be worth it for a world free of Browns Columbias Harvards et al
I honestly don't think we should be taking the Times as if it's not a conservative news source and part of their propaganda machine at this point, considering a lot of what they published this year
I really need there to be a new position in congress in which it is someone's job to STRIKE A GONG every time someone does something this for the foreseeable future.
