Once I saw a dude podcaster arguing with his lady co host that the New York marathon was absolutely longer than the Boston marathon and he knew because he had run them both and that's the best example I can think of to explain men
This "Napoleon wasn't short, actually" thing confuses the hell out of me because I've been to the Musée de l'Armée. I've seen one of his uniforms on display there and it was freaking tiny. I'm only 5'3" and he couldn't have been much bigger than me.
It’s a strange thing that seems to come out of number confusion and changing averages. I’d be interest to see other people from that era compared so that I could get a better idea…But then, I’m a nerd. lol
Not to hijack, but if you like military history, it's amazing. Hundreds of years of militaria, Napoleon's tomb, French ROTC w/sabers & 19th century style uniforms.
I studied the French revolution & Napoleonic wars. Amazing to see it all brought to life. But that's also Paris & France in general.
It was a long time ago. I was a 19 yr old girl, so the Musée de l'Armée wasn't quite as interesting to me as other things, but I'm sure that someone who is more interested in militaria than I was at the time would be enthralled with the place.
And today I learned that the distance a marathon is today isn't the distance from Athens to Marathon. I found this interesting:

I would bet any amount of money that the argument ensued from the fact that he could not be dissuaded from his """fact"''" regardless of what his lady cohost said, and her brain started overheating. (Call me any names you want but like, a solid Most of the dudes I know are like this.)
In my youth, I dated a Greek-American New Yorker who thought the NYC Marathon must be longer than the Boston Marathon because NYC is just bigger & better than Boston. 😑 Didn't know his own Greek heritage well enough...
