Anyone have recommendations for iPad scanner apps to share? The one I use no longer syncs with google drive which is making organizing archival materials much more challenging! TY 🗃️

Ran across this in a 1983 Montgomery County newspaper: “School Board decides to let each public high school decide whether to have designated smoking areas for students.” Reminded me that I lived on the smoking floor of my UCSC dorm in 2003!

Amazing. If you are a potential reviewer (or know someone who might want to be, or an outlet that might be interested), please be in touch with me or University of Chicago Press for a galley.

Race is still factored in. White applicants get to keep the advantages they've accrued through systemic racism without any countervailing forces.

On the left is the beautiful part of the Reno Amtrak station that is closed off to the public, only accessible via the code-protected gate on the right to prevent use of the bathroom. Instead of affording access to public bathrooms, they clamped down on access to a beautiful public space. I hate it.

Hometown visits are so weird. We’re staying in the hotel where my parents cast their votes for Bill Clinton in the first election I recollect. Also pics of me, the 40-yo first grader.

I just had a wonderful time giving a group of educators a tour of Georgetown's campus sites connected to our history of slavery & its legacies. Nothing like an outdoor history lesson on the move with a curious & engaged audience.
