Weather's nice again today, so another cocktail experiment. Today's is a Greyhound's Tooth: vodka, Bénédictine, bitters and grapefruit juice. I was a little heavy-handed with the bitters. And yes, it's the wrong glass. Bite me.

Expanding my cocktail repertoire: this is an English Garden: Gin, elderflower liqueur and apple juice. A refreshing drink for summer afternoons; this one came out a bit heavy on the gin, though.

I have no followers here so it feels safe to say this: I've started divorce proceedings against my wife of 23 years, and it feels good. And bad at the same time, I guess. Feelings are complicated

Reskeet how old you are, using a vague proxy. The year I turned 14, CNN cut away from its coverage of a war to announce the death of my birth country's head of state.

I just finished Broken Monsters by @laurenbeukes.bsky.social, and it's been a while since a book made me this uncomfortable. Not because it's especially graphic or gory, it's just... the excellent writing combined with some deeply unsettling themes really got to me

Most of us worry sometimes about death and the afterlife. Most of us don't think about it in terms of eels. But the 4th-Century BC poet Philetaerus was not most of us. “Fear death," he warned us. "For when you are dead, you cannot eat eels.” 🗃️🧪

I'm now imagining a place that pretends to be a "Pray the Gay Away" Conversion Camp but is, in actuality, a safe haven for queer kids to be away from their awful parents for the summer, and teaching them the life skills to get away and find their community the second they turn 18.

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. His last piece of art, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS.
