GUYS. What @taylorlorenz.bsky.social has endured in the past 72 hours is not okay. She did a fantastic job with her story and her interview and I am so proud of her! I came to know Taylor through working on her book - she is an extremely thoughtful, empathetic & careful journalist.
My problem is she has no idea how all of us in the LGBTQ+ community are affected by Chaya's dangerous rhetoric and lobbed softball questions at her like they were at a coffee klatch. Taylor made herself famous when she unveiled Chaya's identity two years ago and has capitalized on that since then.
The number of people shouting at actual trans journalists/media people that they're wrong about the interview and need to uhhh..."listen to trans people" has really been...something.
Congrats to Taylor Lorenz and the Washington Post for getting LibsOfTikTok to 2.9 million followers today!
Keep platforming those monsters, folks! The system works!!!!

I don’t really trust follower counts
But yes, I’m sure whilst it will get her more attention within her sphere, I still am of the opinion that the wider outing of her with this new piece will be beneficial in having her deplatformed and removed from positions of power 🙏
It can be both 🌈❤️
That absolutely will not happen though. You're dreaming. All it's done is give her yet more oxygen, it's all platforming the far right EVER does for them.
Unchecked dogpiling vitriol, it’s wild cause the more there is the easier it is for actual sociopaths and psychos to start using it as permission to join.
Vitriol was used by Alchemists as a solvent. It was part of the process of turning lead into gold. It's no longer used for that purpose, and is only used now on the Internet, as a substitute for rational debate.
I have been in the firing line as well and I’m very surprised by it! But I’ll stand by what I said, thanks for an illuminating and eye-opening interview Taylor!
