I used to be obsessively engaged with the social media news/opinion cycle until one day I wondered "What is the point of this? It doesn't help anyone." This is another great reason to explain to kids of all ages the importance of libraries and how research works! Libraries need our support, and have actual knowledge!

So I want to talk about this from the perspective of someone who does professional fact checking as part of my work. For some years now I have been paid to check TV and written content themed around animals to make sure it is factually accurate. Chat GPT & AI has made that job so much harder.

Has anyone written a piece on humanities envy among tech bros? The fact that one of the first things they did was go, “AI can write prose! No more writers! YES! And it can make pictures! No more artists! HAHA!” instead of just focusing on AI’s ability to do STEM stuff is so telling.

Just remember: Arts & Humanities are so useless and pointless that Tech Bros were driven to spend billions of dollars to try and get a computer to do something that badly approximates something Arts & Humanities students could do half asleep and wired on coffee the night before the due date.
