Mini thread (in response to someone else) for those interested.
A NOAA lawyer and I do a guest lecture every year to a graduate level marine biology class on what itโ€™s like for us to work in law and economics in a field thatโ€™s generally dominated by marine scientists. You have to get very familiar with the language of science and probability.

One more amazing thing for a Saturday morning starting a week of vacation: Did you know that if you have MLB.tv, you can just sit and eat breakfast while watching recent condensed games where the Yankees lose?

Fun fact: Back in 2022, the FOMC was widely derided for predicting only a small rise in unemployment with core inflation rapidly falling. Those projections turn out to have been almost exactly right. www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypoli...

many people are saying that the NYTโ€™s disastrous performance at writing editorials that seem lazy and out of touch reflect a newspaper not up to the challenges of its rigorous job

Yesterday, I shared this same Canada Day thread on Bluesky, Threads, and X. Here's what I found. ๐Ÿงต
โ€œCanada is such a northern country, donโ€™t we want a little global warming?โ€ I often hear. In a nutshell, NO. Weโ€™re warming 2x faster than the rest of the world, driving extreme heat, flood, and sea level rise we are not prepared for. The wildfire season started in Feb this year. Feb! #canadaday
